At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Mentions meeting Joyce Tonti over a phone call whose husband is a "career" in the service. Roseann mentions Admiral Bomberger who will be speaking at an upcoming event. Notes that she may live with her parents for three months while Bill will lives in Long Beach. She closes by mentioning the silks he bought for her for which she is still seeking a pattern.
