At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One Wire photograph released by International News Photos dated August 27, 1957. Shows a memorial and statue of Douglas MacArthur. According to the attached press release the memorial is to commemorate the victory at Inchon during the Korean War. The photo is stamped on the back with International News Photos information.
