One memo to William Chenery dated April 21, 1925. The author of the memo regards Ruhl's article of the American occupation in Haiti as admirable. Suggests that Ruhl refrain from omitting the details of Haitian people and activists with a little bit of humor. He writes that the "general reader who is interested in himself, who cares little, if at all, about the political and ecoomic fortunes of Haiti, and who if he reads about Haiti at all, wants to be amused by it."

William L. Chenery was a journalist who worked as an editor and eventually as the publisher of Collier's Magazine for 25 years. His publishing saved the publication which rose in prominence among political officials.
