At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Collection of posters printed by the Liberty Loan Committee released during World War I. Consists of five posters related to recruitment and providing aid to Allied soldiers by pushing for citizens to invest in bonds.

World War I took place between 1914 to 1918 between the Allied and Central Powers and resulted in over 10 million military deaths.
