Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One poster entitled, "No Nukes is Good Nukes," dated 1980. Depicts cross bones with a nuclear explosion behind it. Text advocates against nuclear waste, raises the viewers awareness that "cheap and solar and geothermal technology exists that could cut home oil use 25%." The artwork was a collaboration between three artists: Robert Huot, Carol Kinne and Bud Panzera.
