At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Articles in this publication are related to promoting a dance event organized by the Gay Liberation Front, which took place at Alternate U.; an interview between Kay VanDuers, Bob Kohler and Bernard Lewis about the Gay Liberation Front and demonstrations; and a feature on the civil rights organization, The Young Lords.
