On May 23, the Gilder Lehrman Institute Annual Gala celebrated the power of history education, scholarship, and the remarkable individuals who make our work possible. This year’s event recognized four honorees as Gilder Lehrman Champions of History and role models for the millions of students we serve:
- Activists and former diplomats Debbie and Craig Stapleton
- Civic leader and philanthropist Valerie Rockefeller
- Renowned African American history scholar, filmmaker, and institution-builder Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
