The American Forest Conference brought together representatives from the lumbering, mining and grazing industries, railroad, and irrigation to discus forestry. Special attention was given to the proper use of forests by all fields, with responsible laws passed by Congress to protect private owners with governmental control for public purposes only. The conference also called for the creation of a national forest service
