Attempts to rectify the wrongs caused him by Loring in 1848 when he requested and was denied leave to assist his widowed mother. Lists several other examples of manipulative dominion towards himself as well as others in the company. "I grant that you are a great fool yet you have sense enough to know that your conduct towards me & many others of the Regt has been vindictive oppressive & unjust in the highest degree." Written at Fort Ewell.
