In absence of recommendations for clemency from the prosecuting attorney and the judge who tried the case, Jackson asks for their recommendation if pardon should be granted to "Craig," a prisoner who was convicted 10 May 1830. Barnard and Marks were United States Senators from Pennsylvania. Joel Barlow Sutherland was a Congressman from Pennsylvania.
