Receipt acknowledging payment to Aaron Lopez of fifteen pounds ten schillings from Joseph Clarke for six linen handkerchiefs. Most likely written in Newport, Rhode Island, where both Lopez and Clarke conducted business.
Joseph Clarke was the General Treasurer of Rhode Island.
Aaron Lopez was a Jewish Merchant who provided ships for the colonies during the American Revolution. He was the first president of Touro Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the United States.
