Written by Johnston Livingston's sister Matilda (Livingston) Rogers, who often signed her letters "Til." She writes that their uncle has made a bet with a Mr. Wilson that he can not run/walk 10 miles in one hour, and explains how Mr. Wilson is preparing to successfully challenge the bet in the spring. She gives an account of their family's activities, apologizes for her failure to write sooner, and hopes that her brother is taking care of himself at college.
