He has been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. He comments: "You see by the Publick Prints what a shabby figure we make in America. Things unfortunately continue to take just the same turn that you had from time to time foretold." He also encloses 150 pounds, possibly to take care of Ms. Durrell's debt.
