Image shows approximate twenty-one soldiers holding the ropes attached to a floating balloon. In the background are A-frame tents amid trees, with other figures watching the balloon action. Ink inscription on image "2348." Graphite inscription on verso "Professor Lowe in His Balloon Watching the Battle of Fair Oaks" "2.00--." Photographers imprint on verso: "Published by E. & H. T. Anthony, 501 Broadway, New York. Manufacturers of the best Photographic Albums."
