One document signed by William Andrews dated July 16, 1857. This document grants power of attorney to John D. Andrews. This power of attorney grants John D. possession of William's enslaved people, who are identified in the document in the state of Texas. The enslaved people are Robin, Henry, the older Henry, the younger Dorcas and her children, and Queen and her children. The enslaved people had been brought to Texas by William several years previous and since had been under the control of John D. During that time, Williams's son John Q. was having the enslaved people work his farm. It is upon John Q.'s death that this document is being written to clarify John D.'s rights to the enslaved people.
