One pamphlet entitled The Bible View of Slavery Reconsidered. A letter to the Right Rev. Bishop Hopkins, written by Biblicus and published 1863 by Henry B. Ashmead. This pamphlet was published as a response to Rev. Bishop Hopkins' defense of slavery using the bible. The author argues the points Hopkins made in reference to the Old Testament. They translate the original Hebrew and refute each proof that Hopkins used. The author states, "I do not believe that the Bible teaches the perpetual bondage of the negro or any other race, I desire you to divest yourself of your former bias and reconsider the Biblical aspect of slavery." Biblicus was the pen name for Rev. Louis Christian Newman.
