One letter by Frederick W. Simonds to his sister, Jane Simonds, dated October 19, 1861. Mentions that a large number of soldiers, including all the VA regulars, are coming to Camp Griffin. Also discusses Seth Jones, a friend of Simonds' who enlisted in the Union army to escape working on his father's farm, which he found boring. Also discusses how some soldiers have a new, blue uniform, and that he expects to receive this new uniform soon.
