You will need to provide a personal statement (500 words or less) where you explain what you hope to gain should you be selected for this program. Here, please share how past, current, and anticipated responsibilities and experience, especially related to US history, led you to apply.
Once you start your application, you can save it and return to it later. You only need to submit one application for all the programs, ranking the ones you are interested in.

If you are admitted to an in-person seminar, you will be responsible for a $50 non-refundable registration fee and up to $50 for purchasing required readings.
The Gilder Lehrman Institute will provide meals, program activities, and housing near the venue.
Needs-based travel stipends may be available. More information will be provided when you are accepted into a seminar.
A final schedule and required readings will be shared with participants before the seminar.
Participants will be asked to purchase (for up to $50) and complete the required readings before arriving on site.
Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
