Classroom-Ready PD Modules

Originating from our How Did We Get Here? professional development series, our Classroom-Ready PD modules have been designed to provide teachers with ready-made, classroom-friendly resources on topics in American history that are front-and-center in current events. The modules convert workshops initially held online on Zoom featuring lectures by leading scholars of American history and expert advice for teaching these topics in the classroom from some of the Gilder Lehrman Institute’s Master Teachers. Together, these modules cover the origins and evolution of key concepts of American history that have great resonance in the present day, all available at teachers' own pace and schedule.

Each module includes

  • Lectures by an eminent historian in the field
  • Pedagogical sessions led by a Gilder Lehrman Master Teacher
  • Digital-friendly unit of Teaching Literacy through History™ lesson plans directly connected to the session topics
  • Recommended readings and resources on the module topics and themes
  • Certificates of completion for professional development hours
