The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History’s Teacher Seminars offer K–12 educators with programs featuring leading American history professors, visits to local historic sites, and hands-on work with primary sources.

 

These highly competitive seminars are open exclusively to participants in the Institute’s free Affiliate School Program. Check here to see if your school is in the Affiliate School Program. If it is not, register now to ensure that you will be eligible to apply for the Teacher Seminars. We welcome applications from previous Teacher Seminar attendees as well as new participants.

 

2020 Teacher Seminars

Registration is now open for the summer 2020 Teacher Seminars; apply here by February 18, 2020. This year we are offering the following twenty-five seminars:

Teacher Seminar Summit at Gettysburg College, July 19–22

This inaugural Summit includes twelve concurrent seminars for more than 400 teachers. Participants will also be able to attend book talks with leading historians and take part in networking opportunities.

 

6-Day Seminars

During these nine Teacher Seminars participants will delve deeply into a topic with an eminent professor and a master teacher at leading universities and historic sites.

 

 

3-Day Regional Seminars

These four regional seminars are rigorous workshops designed to help teachers receive high-quality professional development without traveling far from home.

Starting on March 24, 2020, applicants can check seminar notifications by logging in at gilderlehrman.org/seminar-status. Applicants will not receive an email notification. Successful applicants will be directed to additional information and registration instructions through their online accounts.
