Nathan McAlister
Nathan McAlister is currently the humanities program manager for the Kansas State Department of Education and previously taught in Kansas middle and high schools for more than twenty years. He earned his undergraduate degrees in education and history from Kansas State University and his MAT from Emporia State.
Nathan was chosen as the Gilder Lehrman 2010 National History Teacher of the Year and has been a Gilder Lehrman master teacher since 2012. He has received several other awards, including being named the 2013 National Educator of the Year by the Santa Fe Trail Association and the 2018 Kansas History Day Teacher of the Year. He has also served as curriculum advisor for the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site and serves as treasurer for the Kansas Council for History Education.
