Dear sir
I suppose you have heard from Mr. Taylor (to whom I mentd. it as I had not then time to write to you) that you had recovered your suit agst. Braxton & others & was to have 75 part of the land on paying 76th. part of the charges with Interest from the time it ought to have been paid. I have a copy of the [illegible], but it is so intermixed with a hunk full of papers, that until they are [illegible] ([illegible] I can't do today as I came home only last night and our [illegible] is tomorrow) I can't come at it. I could not get the Comn. for partition & shall have it abt. 3 weeks hence when I will forward it to you, the Comrs. are to be Majr. Moore, Colo. Wm. Taliafarro, Capn. Jamison & Mr. Bell. I hear Mr. Taylor is like to be pinched at his next Election, which I am sorry for. If he was not so near a relation that I may be suspected of Partiality, I could say much for him. To his stock of good sense & unspoken Fidelity he added such uncommon diligence, that I believe I can say with truth, he was not a minute - absent from the service of the House or any Committee he was appointd. of, during the long session; this if his constituents knew, they would certainly for their own sakes commit the care of their lives & property again to so watchful & careful a guardian. I am in haste & so can only add my respects to him and all [illegible] & that I am.
