Includes a Constitution for Kansas, submitted by John Calhoun, President of the Kansas Constitutional Convention (this constitution is known as the Lecompton Constitution, intended to admit Kansas into the Union as a slave state). Includes the minority report, submitted by Senator Stephen Douglas, who states, "there is no satisfactory evidence that the constitution formed at Lecompton is the act and deed of the people of Kansas, or that it embodies their will."
