At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Informs Williams that because of the "Stay Law" all legal cases have been shifted to the Superior Court, which is now overburdened and has refused to hear civil cases. Therefore, Williams's case, apparently regarding a land claim, has little chance of being heard. Quotes "Othello" in reference to the Stay Law. (see GLC00496.254.04 and GLC00496.254.05).
