Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

The left half of the list, which would include the headings, is missing. Main page contains a list of numbers that correspond to some sort of iron mongery related items. The items are grouped according to where they are needed, and their cost in 1775 is listed, as well as the total cost in 1775 of all listed items. Second page contains the title. Prepared by the office of the Quarter Master General, Nathanael Greene, for the budget of 1780.
