My dearest Mother,

I received your letter & Agnes's yesterday, telling of the deaths of poor little Connie. It must have been a terrible blow to you, as well as the rest of us, I feared that something had happened on account of not getting a letter for so long, but I know you were so busy nursing that you had no time, but as it has pleased the Lord to take her we should not murmur, but is ought to be a warning to us, as we do not know what time, it may please him to call us. I have not gone to Elmira yet & perhaps will not go, but cannot tell, I think there is a better chance of exchange here, but of course I will have to go if they choose to send me. Send a few stamps in your next letter. Love to Father, Uncle G. & all the rest.
As ever yr affect son,
Edward
