Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Return of ordnance and ammunition annexed to Thomas's Company, 2nd regiment of artillery, 20 June 1781. Contains a chart listing ordnance and ammunition. Underneath chart, a note indicates that one six pounder was surrendered at Saratoga while another "was taken at the storm of the British Lines near Sarratoga" [sic]. Docket appears to be in the hand of Samuel Shaw.
