Return of the number of men at the South Redoubt (at West Point?) compiled by Captain Monson of the 8th Connecticut Regiment and sent to Major James Doughty, the fort major of West Point. The docket is in Major General Knox's hand. The totals include: 1 Captain, 1 Subaltern, 4 Sergeants, 2 Drum & fife, and 44 Rank & file.

Captain Monson was in the 8th Connecticut Regiment. Some sources spell Captain Monson's name "Munson," though on the present document he signs his name "Monson."
