Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Informs Knox that they have "received information that Liquors have been sold to the Troops in the Garrison of W'Point, by our agents, in such manner as tends to the Disorder of that Garrison ... " States that they will attend to the matter and give orders to strictly attend to the regulations of the garrison. Noted as written at the Contractor's Office.
