Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Contract regarding the purchase of land by William Duer and Royal Flint from Samuel Philips, Leonard Jarvis and John Read. Authorizes the sale of the lands in Maine and grants Duer and Flint all of the rightful legal claims to it. Noted that Henrys Knox and Jackson have signed as witnesses. Appears to be a copy. Date previously inferred, written in pencil.
