Hunton informs General Ruggles: "I resigned my position of Brig Genl of Ma. and obtained the place of Col of active volunteers." Notes that General Robert E. Lee ordered him to report to General Cocke (possibly Philip St. George Cocke). Remarks, "I assure you it gave me no pleasure to be transferred from your command." One bust engraving of Hunton included as collateral.
