Hopes that Mancinelli remembers him. Writes to introduce Dr. Loring, who is visiting Rome. Congratulates Mancinelli "on having so noble a Pope. Protestants as we are, we will all shout, Viva Papa Pio IX." Supposes that Mancinelli knows his American acquaintances now in Rome, including Mr. Cranch, Mr. Story, and Margaret Fuller. Pius IX ruled from 1846 to 1878. Loring is possibly George Bailey Loring, M.D.
