Saint-Gaudens discusses his upcoming visit to Boston, Massachusetts with Kennard (possibly Martin P. Kennard, a Boston abolitionist and political reformer). States that any message Kennard leaves for him at the office of McKim, Mead, and White will be received immediately upon his arrival.
McKim, Mead, and White was a prominent architectural firm of the late 19th and early 20th century. Consisting of Charles McKim (1847-1909), William Mead (1846-1928), and Stanford White (1853-1906), the firm designed many buildings on the East Coast of the United States, and was associated with the Beaux Arts movement (with which Augustus Saint-Gaudens was also identified).

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
