Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Vetch explains that he has travelled from Annapolis to Boston in order to settle the accounts of the garrisons. He discusses how he will cover the expenses and acquire the necessary provisions. He also talks of moving his family from Annapolis and discusses a "Canada Expedition" that has been delayed due to troubles abroad.
