Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Jamison explains how Parliament is currently divided over the issue of going to war, and states that some man of wars have already arrived in Amerca. He also talks describes a violent conflict where a ship was taken for ransom, and some men were left dead, wounded, or missing. Docketed on address leaf.
