Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Lawrence writes that Peter Bard has said that he will pay his account to Robert Jr. and Peter Livingston by the end of the month, if not in full, then at least the greater portion. He regards Bard with suspicion, however, and warns the Livingston's that they may have difficulty dealing with him.
