Duane states "With real Concern I observe your uneasiness at the Turn in the political world to the disadvantage of our Family," but states that Philip, (1716-1778) Livingston is to blame for his troubles in the legislature. According to Duane, "I say My Uncle Joined the presbeterean party; because whetehr he meant to do it or not, his Conduct had that Colour - of Consequence he was opposed in that Character." Duane sympathizes with the family's turmoil, and finds it most unfortunate that a man as capable as his uncle Philip has severely damaged his public reputation. Docketed on address leaf.
