Ticknor writes to his family from Camp Dennison in Ohio. Reports he will return to his regiment the following day. States his regiment is in either Alabama or east Tennessee. Informs he sent his "likeness" to them. Expresses his desire for the war to be over. Comments it is raining and the trip back to his regiment will be difficult, "...but a soldier has to go rain or shine." Letter is very fragile with a small hole and an emblem.
