Comments that he had a relapse of the fever since he last wrote to her but that God spared his life. Reports that his regiment is in Nashville, Tennessee and that he will go 400 miles by water to join them. He will head down the Ohio River, then up the Cumberland River to Nashville. Asks her not to write to him until he joins his regiment. Describes the Union cause as, "brite and our victorious army is mooving on like A mighty flood and is pushing the rebels back..."
