At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Copy of a deed of sale for a property in Baltimore from Charles Morton Stewart and his wife to Caroline W. Remington. Describes the property in question. Copied signatures of Stewart and his wife and Daniel E. Myers as a witness. On page four George E. Langston signed as the clerk of the Superior Court of Baltimore City verifying that this document is a true copy.
