Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

This document is an Act in addition to two several Acts of this state passed since the commencement of the present year for raising and filling up this state's quota of the Continental Army. It mentions the Act passed on 12 January 1781 and further assigns officers to oversee recruitment for each company mustered.
