Envelope is a separate sheet (19.3 x 13.4 cm.) Note on verso says he went to Spain and later to Paris, where he spent part of the winter. Ran into many of his old shipmates. Says he was present during a conversation between James Fenimore Cooper and Sir Walter Scott. Says "it was a treat most truly - our Cooper was equal to Scott on all tasks." Then went through Switzerland and Italy before returning to Port Mahon.
