Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Nancy's grandmother writes to say that she has been out with Nancy's mother, and they are well. She mentions Tillie (Te Te) may visit and that there has been no word from Charles. Nancy's grandmother has been sewing Nancy's dress while Nancy's grandfather is out on his bike. She writes that they miss her and for her to take care of herself. She has included some money (not included) to "help out."
