At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

35 letters, 1 newspaper clipping, 1966-70, Metairie, Lousiana. Nancy Anderson (fl. 1966-1970) is the recipient of letters from her mother and grandmother and grandfather. These letters extend over the period of time while she is enrolled in college. She visits home in Louisiana often. She is also the recipient of letters from Ellis H.
