One letter from Leonard Graeff to Susan Prowell Graeff and Raymond James Graeff, dated October 30, 1943. Leonard writes primarily his father surprised that his father wrote a letter to him. He likes the new pen, and asks again for his blue bag. They just got their Navy dress whites, he says they are very fancy and feel like a fifty dollar suit. Leonard says it doesn't feel like he's been in training that long, but he realized how much he learned watching a new company that just came in. He also mentions that his company got a banty rooster, a hen and a baby chick. The cleanest company in the battalion gets the rooster flag and the banty comes with it. His company was awarded the rooster four times, which is a record. He also mentions that Fuzz is going to Officer Candidate School.
A banty rooster is a smaller, more aggressive rooster.
