Signed by British Major General Holmes, Colonel of the 31st Regiment of Foot. Countersigned by John F. Hesse, certifying that this letter has been entered in the office of Thomas Gore, Commissary General of Musters. Holmes appoints Lorimer as surgeon to the 31st Regiment.
Holmes was appointed as Lieutenant Colonel in 1746. He later served as Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Wight and Commander in Chief of Portsmouth.
