Writes "I am busy to day fixing my tent up for winter."
My dear Mother,
Enclosed I send a permit from Maj. Brady for some clothes. Shoes no. 7 ½, a thick woolen shirt. I stated a blanket in the permit, but I would rather have a comfort as it will prove warmer. It has been nearly a week since I got a letter from home. I am busy to day fixing my tent up for winter, but I sincerely hope that I may not have to spend the winter here. The weather is quite pleasant here now, & I am enjoying very good health, I never hear you mention the C's now have they been up to uncle G's this ummer. Love to Father, Uncle George, & all the rest & believe me as ever, your affect son.
Edward.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
