Title continues: "Major Genl. Wool Comdg. Drawn by Sergt. Worret & Compiled Under the Direction of Colonel T.J. Cram Chief Topl. Engr. Dept. Va."
"Copy." Shows the Yorktown Peninsula and contains a description of the area in terms of its potential for military uses. Hand-drawn and colored on fine weave linen. Signed and inscribed in lower left corner "To General Heintzelman with compliments of T. J. Cram." Samuel P. Heintzelman (1805-1880), an 1826 West Point graduate, fought at First and Second Manassas (Bull Run). He eventually reached the rank of major general with command of the Northern Department. Thomas Jefferson Cram, also an 1826 West Point graduate, was an engineer and aide de camp to Major General Wool. He eventually rose to the rank of brevet major general. Worret was a sergeant in the 20th New York Infantry Regiment from 1861 to 1863.
