Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Contains 22 reports of various engineering and artillery actions of Union officers. Reports listed in contents on pages 5-6. Contains 18 large lithographed folded maps and plans at the back of the book. Maps listed on page 7. Pebble-grained red cloth cover, stamped with gilt on front cover and title on spine. Blind stamped on back cover.
