At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One Wire photograph released by International News Photos dated January 21, 1957. Shows three planes flying. The attached press release reports that the new planes, F-6's, are the latest versions of the Hawker Hunter Fighter. They claim the F-6s can climb faster, and operate at greater heights. It is also the most heavily armed fighter in use in any air force. The photo is stamped on the back with International News Photos information.
